Classic VW Type 1 Link Pin Adjusters - 2450 Classic VW Type 1 Link Pin Adjusters - 2450

A good way to lower a Classic Volkswagen Type 1 Beetle or Karmann Ghia with link pin front suspension ( 1949 through 1965) is utilizing adjusters in the center of the beam.

These adjusters will give you the ability to adjust your VW up and down a total of 7.5" when installed at 25 degrees up from parallel to the ground. This means you can go up to stock height at the highest setting and the ability to go down a total of 7.5", but you can set it anywhere you want within that range.

Do not believe the 50/50 garbage out there, it is a Band-aid idea that will only cause more harm. Your factory link pin suspension is designed to be at a stock height, with the arms at a 60 degree angle. The top arm is bottomed out on the stop, the stock shock is maxed out in extension and this is all assumed, that the factory torsions haven't lost any spring tension. (Theortically, if the 50/50 method was put in place with relaxed torsions, you are putting more stress on them to index them higher giving the vehicle an unstable ride. Would it lift it to stock height? Maybe. Would it be good advice to do this to keep your family safe? No.) Installing these adjusters at 25 degrees give you the best use of travel within the range of the factory working components.

Six Shooter Clutch Adjustment Nut - 2820 Six Shooter Clutch Adjustment Nut - 2820

There is a wing nut that, when functioning at its best, is a FIVE-out-of-TEN experience. This original nut would allow the VW owner to adjust his clutch feel to get the right amount of pedal to disengage the clutch. But most of the time, the OEM German wingnut is no longer on the vehicle, and a Chinese soft nut was chosen, and it feels like a week of not shaving your face. Heck, have you ever tried to adjust it when it was cold outside and you were twisting this wing nut, only for you to miss a twist, and like a propeller, it slaps your finger to the point of you letting out a Go#$&#)$)*_#@)_*$*it!!! Ya, we have all been there. We gave this trick little product a pretty cool name. Yeah, I am biased. We call it the Six Shooter Clutch Adjuster.

Available in Raw Steel, Powder Coated Black, Stainless Steel and NOW, Titanium!!!

Stage 1 PRObuilt Adjustable Shockless Link Pin Beam Complete - 2209 Stage 1 PRObuilt Adjustable Shockless Link Pin Beam Complete - 2209

The BEST way to adjust a Classic Volkswagen Type 1 with link pin front suspension (1949 through 1965), is by installing a Complete PRObuilt Beam. When the PRO's say complete, they mean complete. You will not need anything in addition to this assembly.

The Stage 1 Shockless PRObuilt Beam is built on the Ultimate Beam platform. It's made six inches narrower than OEM for that low look and to allow for wider wheels, drop spindles, and disc brakes, that add track width.

The complete beam comes as you see it, spindle to spindle, with an entire PRObuilt steering system installed and ready to bolt in and go. For a full list of details included with the beam assembly, visit the Complete Details section here. This beam replaces the factory beam part number 113401021A.

Contrary to belief, the shockless beam can ride amazingly when using Airkewld's Delrin bushings. One tip, though, is if the vehicle is adjusted down, the ride will be rough, lift it an inch, and the ride improves.

Complete 1949-65 VW Beetle/Ghia PRObuilt Lowering Kit - 2170 Complete 1949-65 VW Beetle/Ghia PRObuilt Lowering Kit - 2170

A Great way to lower 1949 through 1965 Classic Volkswagen Type 1 Beetle and Karmann Ghia is with a Complete PRObuilt Lowering Kit from Airkewld. It lowers the vehicle from 2.50" or 63mm to 10" or 254mm up front and from stock height to 6" or 150mm in the rear.

Stock is a relative term. Even though you have not changed anything over time, you are assessing the vehicle's overall height as it currently sits. But it has relaxed over time, gradually starting to sag. This is what a stock Beetle at stock height looks like off the showroom floor, over a 6" gap between the top of the tire and the upper fender arch. Even the rear wheels have some positive camber.

a PRO's Take | Product Advice & Recommendation

"A kit is a kit when you have all the pieces needed to do the job correctly. A "kit" without everything you need is a headache, that is going to happen, probably based on money. The PRO's will guide you down the right path my friend. It is the only way for us to succeed is by your happiness with customer service and meeting or exceeding expectations."
