I have SOLD 19,500 of these and I bet you have never seen one of these. Right?
Crazy to think that after 10 years of selling
these, we have sold over 19,500 in 38 countries! WoW!!! I bet you have never seen one and more than likely, your head will explode when I show it to you. What am I talking about? Great question.
There is a wing nut that when functioning at it best, is roughly a FIVE out TEN experience. This original nut, in theory, would allow the VW owner to adjust his clutch feel to get the right amount of pedal to disengage the clutch. But most of the time...........
The most often neglected part of the Classic Volkswagen Drive-Train is the Steering Box. The 113415061C, which is the factory OEM part number, is the most common steering box used. It will work with *All Type 1's, Type 3's, Type 181's and anything that came with a Ball Joint front suspension.
Adjusting the steering box with the adjustment on the top of the box is often over used. As a whole, the steering box is responsible to 40% of the steering wheel play/creep in the steering system. Crazy, right? There is SO MUCH MORE that is responsible for play/creep but we as consumers assume, the steering box is the reason. Let's get into the grease and bearings of the subject...
The BEST way to enjoy the shifting experience and low RPM's at higher speeds in a 1969 through 1977 Classic Volkswagen Type 1 Beetle, Karmann Ghia, Super Beetle, Split Type 2 converted, or Type 3 is with a PRObuilt Freeway Flyer IRS Transaxle. *(It can fit others, see the Complete Details section for more information).
This transaxle is Perfect for the Cruiser application. Key features of this transaxle are 3.88 Ring and Pinion,
overdrive 4th, along with new synchros, bearings and seals in a rebuilt
IRS platform. All transaxles that come from the PRO's are 12
volt and do not come with OIL. The PRO's recommend
this oil from LAT or this on Amazon. You will need 3.5 quarts normally.
The
PRO's offer a few different transaxle's, a Cruiser application, (Freeway Flyer) or Performance
application (not racing but more aggressive driving).
No Core is Needed.

The BEST way to adjust a Classic Volkswagen Type 1 with ball joint front
suspension (1966 through 1977), up or down, is by installing a Complete
PRObuilt Beam. When the PRO's say complete, they mean complete. You
will not need anything in addition to this assembly.
The Stage 1
PRObuilt Beam is built on the Ultimate Beam platform. It's made in stock
width and up to four inches narrower than OEM to allow for wider
wheels, drop spindles, and disc brakes, that add track width.
The
complete beam comes as you see it, spindle to spindle, with an entire
PRObuilt steering system installed and ready to bolt in and go. For a
full list of details included with the beam assembly, visit the Complete
Details section

There is a wing nut that, when functioning at its best, is a FIVE-out-of-TEN experience. This original nut would allow the VW owner to adjust his clutch feel to get the right amount of pedal to disengage the clutch. But most of the time, the OEM German wingnut is no longer on the vehicle, and a Chinese soft nut was chosen, and it feels like a week of not shaving your face. Heck, have you ever tried to adjust it when it was cold outside and you were twisting this wing nut, only for you to miss a twist, and like a propeller, it slaps your finger to the point of you letting out a Go#$)$)*_#@)_*$*it!!! Ya, we have all been there. We gave this trick little product a pretty cool name. Yeah, I am biased. We call it the Six Shooter Clutch Adjuster.
Available in Raw Steel, Powder Coated Black, Stainless Steel and NOW, Titanium!!! Made in the USA| Product updated 11/21/23 by Pete

We take for granted a vehicle stopping in an adequate amount of time.
Classic Volkswagens don't have brakes that can be counted on, time after
time, at least not on today's highways when needed most. It's time to
change that. It's time to install an American-Made disc brake kit that
exceeds expectations every time. It's time for a set of BAD Series Disc
Brakes from your friends at Airkewld.
The
GEN 2 set of BAD Series Brakes brings new life to a tried and true disc
brake conversion. Any conversion offered by the PRO's will come with
all the necessary parts to install; you will only need to supply the
brake fluid and furnish the lug nuts required to fit your actual wheels.

The BEST way to enjoy the shifting experience at a high performance level (not racing) and low RPM's at higher speeds in a 1949 through 1965 Classic Volkswagen Type 1 Beetle and Karmann Ghia is with a PRObuilt Performance Transaxle equipped with *OEM sized Short Axle/Short Spline Axles (SASS). *(It can fit others, see the Complete Details section for more information).
This transaxle is Perfect for a Performance application. Key features of this transaxle are 3.88 Ring and Pinion,
overdrive 4th, along with new synchros, bearings and seals in a rebuilt
SASS 12 volt platform. It comes with welded gears, steel shift forks,
super diff and heavy duty side plate. All transaxles that come from the PRO's are 12
volt and do not come with OIL. The PRO's recommend
this oil from LAT or this on Amazon. You will need 3.5 quarts normally. No Core is Needed.
The
PRO's offer a few different transaxle's with different axle lengths.
This allows us to fit wheels with different offsets onto cars where as
they wouldn't normally fit. So it is recommended you pick out your
wheels first, run it by the PRO's to see what axle length makes sense,
then choose a Cruiser application, (Freeway Flyer) or Performance
application (not racing but more aggressive driving).

A Great way to lower 1949 through 1965 Classic Volkswagen Type 1 Beetle and Karmann Ghia is with a Complete PRObuilt Lowering Kit from Airkewld. It lowers the vehicle from 2.50" or 63mm to 10" or 254mm up front and from stock height to 6" or 150mm in the rear.
Stock
is a relative term. Even though you have not changed anything over
time, you are assessing the vehicle's overall height as it currently
sits. But it has relaxed over time, gradually starting to sag.
This
is what a stock Beetle at stock height looks like off the showroom floor,
over a 6" gap between the top of the tire and the upper fender arch.
Even the rear wheels have some positive camber.

Debuting on November 24th, 2023, the PRO's are proud to introduce the PRObuilt Pedal Assembly Service! This is a service of your existing pedal assembly, meaning it can not be purchased outright, no exceptions. It is built on LHD (Left Hand Drive) only.
Once purchased, the PRO's will email you a prepaid shipping label to pay for the shipping of your pedal assembly. You can then drop it off at your local FedEx DropOff location or a Walgreens location near you.
Once received, the PRO's will disassemble the pedal assembly and Ammonia Dip all the components to see the conditions of all parts received. If replacement parts are needed, these parts will be an additional cost. Pedal bushings, spring, pads and hardware are included in the purchase of this service. The OEM Clutch Lever will be reused if possible. If not, a replacement clutch shaft will be supplied with the purchase.
All steel parts will be powder coated satin black and the pedal base will be smoothed out, bead blasted and oil soaked for a clean, sano, finish. An option will be to install a early style cruiser pedal to replace the terrible factory pedal option. All standard steel parts will be gun blued.
New Cables are optional. Pictures shown are from our Chassis Builds and only include what is listed above.
