To get proper Ackerman, you need to have the right length of tie rods when you narrow your beam. It is not as simple as cutting your tie rods the amount you narrowed your beam. It's a math problem.
For reference, your steering box is not in the center of the beam. It is to the left here in the US. So the lengths of the tie rods play a major role in steering geometry. So, to not give away our secrets, let's just say we have done the math for you.
These tie rods are narrowed enough to allow for two to four inches of narrowed width on a 1949 through 1965 Type 1 Classic Volkswagen Beetle and Karmann Ghia. For the two inch application, you will have less threads showing on the tie rod ends and for the four inch, you will have more. Stock tie rods consist of part numbers 113415802B and 113415801.

What's recommended?
- When updating your tie rod assemblies, it is recommended to update your tie rod ends to a premium german brand, if possible as some manufacture's build those ends in the wrong tolerances. We prefer Meyle when possible. You can find them here.
