Lowering a Type 3.......is difficult. If you adjust the torsions with the factory beam, the ball joints bind up, giving the end user almost no travel and no user enjoyment. So you can do that, and as you did back in the 80s, you can still smile, but you know the wife isn't traveling with you as the ride is bonk. Yes, bonk. The PRO's had an idea with a few minor changes; we can update the front suspension to a 1969 Karmann Ghia and reap all the rewards of drop spindles, adjustable beams, and American-made disc brake kits. The T3 Ultimate Beam (T3UB) for the Type 3 allows you to adjust your ride height from stock height down to *seven inches on average. The T3UB has Delrin bushings, a steering dampener bracket, and grease-able zerks. The T3UB comes 4" narrowed with shock towers, torsions, and tie rods. New shocks, control arms, and eccentrics are needed to complete the conversion. Or you can go PRObuilt here.

What's included?
- The Ultimate Beam comes powder coated satin black with adjusters installed, delrin bushings, grease zerks, hardware, torsions and tie rods (steering dampener lock nut, washer along with install hardware).
What's needed?
- Spindles: Stock or dropped, depending on what you are doing for braking and overall stance. If you have factory disc brakes, you will need Drop Disc Spindles. You will also require new calipers if you have a 1973-1974 model Type 3 with disc brakes. Factory rotors, bearings, and caps will work just fine. If you have factory drum brakes, purchase a disc brake package for a 1969-79 Standard Beetle/Ghia in the bolt pattern you need, or find drum brakes in the same pattern from a 1969-75 Standard Beetle or Ghia. Some GEN 2 BAD Series Disc Brakes perfectly complement this front end.

FAQ- Do I need to do body mods to install this beam? Maybe. Depending on the year, a single hole might need to be drilled.
- Will this beam work with Air Ride and Static suspension? Yes. With Air Ride, the adjuster will not be functioning.
- Why is the lower bushing fatter than the top bushing? This update was made to get the best camber adjustment possible with a lowered ball joint suspension. It allows the eccentric to be in the center of adjustment in the middle range and meet the needs if you are slammed or stock height.
