Overhaulin a VW, with Chip Foose as the lead Designer! You heard correct, Overhaulin a TV show on TLC, Overhauled a 21 window bus and we were a part of it.The build happened on October 12th - October 19th The prank was pulled on a gentleman some or most of you know hims as Hot Dog Fred.

The prank was not a theft as normal but as a TV commercial gone bad with Chip coming out and congratulating HDF. The bus was a 1965 21 window bus with original paint (i could be wrong) some primer and rust that really couldn't be seen until it was blasted, and to my knowledge, it was a driver that used to pull a hot dog cart to the different VW shows.

As you know or you dont know, they build a vehicle in 8 days, from tear down to pinstripes and reveal.

The Builders on the build besides the a-team are

Geoff & Laurie from Canada Hot rods, formally of Air Speed Parts, These guys built the Hot Rod Heb (brown) that was on the cover of just about every VW mag. This is the second time that they have been on the show.

Mark from Wolfsburg West, He was a huge asset to this build, I hope he is not as stressed as he was there on friday, lol.

Pete from Airkewld, We handled the suspension portion of the build

Paul Ioozio , He is doing the Orange Smoothie Project in the T-3 section, He has also been on the show before.

Companies who helped out on the build
Wagenswest www.wagenswest.com They supplied us with the 4" narrowed bus beam, Control arms all powdercoated satin black. Great fit and finish, I would use them in my bus builds.
Wolfgang International www.wolfgangint.com They supplied us with a straight axle conversion, that in part was powdercoated by www.endlesspowdercoating.com and shipped to buggyworld. The also supplied us with front and rear stainless safari's, rebuilt steering box just to name a few.
Buggyworld www.buggyworld.com Supplied a pro street transmission with sway away axle, freeway flyer gear ideal for this application. If you need a trans, you need to contact Ken.
A-1 Exhaust Tiger supplied a one of dual sidewinder exhaust set up that ended up being completely trick. He was putting the final touches the night of the reveal. We appreciate it b1g time Tiger.
Airkewld www.airkewld.com We supplied, front and rear BAD Series Brakes, Drop spindles done by Rizzag, Billet adjustable shocks, Heavy duty motor mounts, new front end parts and set up the suspension for a clean Cal Look.
Wolfsburg West www.wolfsburgwest.com supplied the entire restoration parts for this build. They must of went back to WW 10 time in 8 days just trying to get different parts. Mark was a huge asset to the build.

This episode airs on May 8th @ 10pm on TLC. Check your local listing for times and channels

On a personal note, Chip is very down to earth. I though he would be cocky, but I was completely wrong. Same with the build team, very cool and they all bust there ass. The build was done with all the same people Chip uses on his riddler award winners so corners were not cut as some of you probably expect. Lots of cool custom touches were done but the purist might think otherwise. I was stoked to be a part of it as its probably not going to happen again as far as a vw on the show again, but you never know.

This weekend, the Hit TV Show, Little People, Big World
airs on TLC. Matt Roloff starts restoring his VW & Airkewld
Supplied him with a set of Front & Rear BAD brakes!
